Rishan Badurdeen appealed to the Supreme Court to reconsider the court’s decision by ‘Special Leave to Appeal’ petition

Former Minister Rishad Badurdeen was accused of destroying the 2388 acres of Kallaru forest which belongs to Wilpaththu National Park.

The total estimated amount for replanting and developing the Kallaru foreset has to be paid by the former minister Rishad Badurdeen from his personal wealth.

This decision was given on last year 16 November by the Judge Janak De Silva, judge Nissanka Bandula and Judge KArunarathna.

However, former minister Rishan Badurdeen had appealed to the Supreme Court to reconsider the court’s decision by ‘Special Leave to Appeal’ petition saying that the judgment is not justified.

The former minister Rishad Badurdeen has filed the petition through AbdeenAssociates Law Firm Limited.

This Kallaru forest case was filed by the Center for Environmental and Attorney-at-Law Ravindranath Dabare represented the petitioning party.
